Welcome to the web site of the Scottish Borders Donkey Sanctuary. |
| We are a recognised Scottish charity, established in 2003, to provide permanent homes to donkeys and mules in need of sanctuary whether due to cruelty or neglect or because their current owners are no longer able to care for them.
We are based in the Scottish Borders and have donkey collection centres in S.W. Scotland and East Lothian. Visits to the sanctuary are only allowed at 2pm on Saturdays and Sundays when we have a guided tour of all the animals on each of these days. The tour takes approximately one hour. Click on the link at the top of the page to find out more. We regret that the sanctuary is closed outwith the duration of the tours due to Health & Safety considerations.
Please browse this site to find out more about the charity, its aims, how to visit us, or how you can help with the charity's good work.

In the good old Summertime? |
|
As we wrote the May Newsletter, we were still having cold, wet days and had water-logged fields and could see no end to it. Well, it turned out to be the hottest, driest May since records began and we all thought, fantastic, Summer’s here! WRONG!

A LONG AND WINDING ROAD?
Some park benches, with more to come, have been installed around the sanctuary so that visitors can have a rest while others enjoy feeding the donkeys at each paddock. The names of donkeys which we have loved and lost will be put on each to keep them in our memory - to date - Jack, Sam, Suzie, Daisy and Sally Lucy.
