The main news this week is that a number of donkeys have moved to the new field which has some lovely grass for them to eat. It's been a long winter and this has required more feed than in a normal year. Thankfully quite a few sponsors did provide some additional funds this year to help pay for the feed. Thanks goes to them for doing this. The new field is a bit further for visitors to walk but we will be happy to provide transport for the more elderly of our visitors if they wish to make the trip. We had a visit a few days ago from the Heiton WRI and received a very nice letter from them saying how the visit had been a highlight of the various trips that had been organised. This was followed by a visit from the Donkey Breeders Society last Wednesday and Mrs Dale must have spoken for a long time because the next day she had nearly lost her voice. Joanna the llama born last May will soon be leaving us. She is going to be a companion to a lonely llama at the same home that her father Lightning came from. In the meantime another cria is on the way. He or she is expected to be born around mid-May. The maternity quarters have been cleaned and harrowed for our arrival and the llamas will soon be moving to them. We have also been donated some rare breeds of hens, including Scots Dumpies. They are laying well so hopefully we might get some chicks! The big sheds are being cleaned out, so if anyone wants some manure they are welcome to come and collect it. We can supply the bags. May is on the horizon and hopefully some nice bright sunny days are on order.
